I don't understand how the question is even, "How can we put to death a (potentially) innocent man?" Why are we comfortable with putting people to death as long as someone's guilty? There are things so profoundly sad, I wish I could crawl into a cave and read my style magazines til I forget. And there are others so obviously senseless that I second-guess the potential of significant portions of humanity. I'm especially depressed when the two intersect.

What happened in Georgia is the obvious target here. And though the fourth estate may prove a catalyst for stays in the future, the real work is shifting the millions of mindsets who still believe that execution is only unjust when you have the wrong man.
