Call it a decade / by vanessa

This is my 10th year at SXSW. My reporting this year will be slimpickins b/c I've had to cut this trip short. I can hear the cries of disappointment now.

I got in last night late. I couldn't pick up my wristband so I arranged to use my friend's badge. WHAT?? A BADGIE? Yes, yes I am. Or thought I would be. As it turns out, I met Havis and Lance for the Beach House show at 1 a.m. but I couldn't get in because you also need a picture ID to get into a bar. So bummed. But Hav wanted to see Harlem Shakes so we rolled over there. I was going to, for the first time ever, pay a cover charge to get in. But when I got to the door, I told them I couldn't find my license (true at the moment) and they let me in with the badge. The best!

Harlem Shakes was fun. A couple of good songs. They have a solid following of like 20 or so fans who know every. single. word. Maybe 50 people there total.

Then, we had Stoney's at 2 a.m. which is a gastronomical paradox: Pizza good. Eating at 2 a.m. is not.

Today, I am working till 2:30 p.m. and then hopefully I'll be able to catch some day shows.
